Google Art Project

www.googleartproject.com is amazing! Google used high resolution cameras and went through seventeen museums from around the world and worked their magic to let you:
...discover and view hundreds of artworks at incredible zoom levels, and even create and share your own collection of masterpieces.
It is truly a visual stunning success. Watch the making of the site

The 'Create an Artwork Collection' option that this site provides lets you build your own collection. You can add comments to each painting and everything can be shared with others.

Imagine working with a class from Washington DC and both classes are looking at the Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian in DC and comparing notes. Even though your students aren't there in person they can look up-close, even closer than the students who are live and in person at the Gallery.
